I thought it would be appropriate to start blogging after Bo's first birthday. We had a wonderful weekend. My brother Clay and his wife Meredith and two little boys were here from Maryland. The kids love playing together! We were so glad they were able to visit for 5 days! Belle loved swimming with her cousins, Clayton (Claytee) and Andrew. They played from sun up to sun down. They even went out into the pasture to see a new baby calf and Belle even touched it. Although it was challenging, we managed to get all 4 children down for naps each day in my parents' house. One day, all 4 were even asleep at the same time.
On the 4th of July, all of my Dad's family comes to my parents' house for a cook-out/BBQ. There were approximately 60 people there. It is one of my most favorite days of the year! It was great seeing everyone and talking with my cousins. (I have 16 first cousins on that side of the family.) It is always so interesting to see how much the children have grown. This year, the highlight of the pool party was the new waterslide. It is quite big and the kids seemed to really enjoy it. (as well as some adults)
The 4th of July is very special to us now because that is the day Bo was born! He is one year old now and I can't believe it. He is walking and starting to mimic more actions and words each day. He says "bye-bye" and "uh-ohhhhh" a lot. He waves bye and hello. He is trying to say "thank-you" now. One of his most favorite activities is to get a ball and throw it and then follow it, pick it up, then throw it again and repeat.....He often claps as he is following the ball around. He walks around all day long now! He enjoys bringing me things too. Sometimes for our entertainment, we will just hand him things and tell him to take them to someone across the room. He thinks it is great fun and we think it is cute! He still thinks Belle is the coolest person around though. She is sweet to him and they only fuss over a few toys right now. We had Bo's pool party the day after the 4th. In addition to my brother and family being there, Mark's parents and his sister and brother-in-law were also able to be with us and made the trip down from Tennessee! It was so nice to have ALL of our immediate families together for this special day. I am very fortunate to have wonderful friends and special family that help us celebrate at birthday parties. I used a "1st Birthday " theme with decorations of blue accented with airplanes, basketballs, and firetrucks. We ate pizza, lasagna, salad, and then cake and popsicles. I am also very fortunate that my Aunt Jo makes wonderful cakes and made Bo's cake in the shape of the number "1". It was so cute and tasty too! We celebrated with a pinata and all of the kids seemed to really enjoy hitting the fire truck pinata a lot! Bo received many special gifts. We really appreciate all of the boy toys, such as trucks and tractors. Belle has enjoyed playing with everything also!
